General Terms of Use
Version 2.0 • General UsersGeneral Terms of Use
These Terms of Use apply to your access to and use of the Tuppence platform.
Tuppence is a software platform that enables users to create, manage, and use collection and payment links.
Tuppence is not a bank, deposit-taking institution, escrow provider, or e-money issuer. Payment processing, connected account onboarding, payout functionality, and related regulated payment services are provided through third-party payment providers, including Stripe, and may be subject to their own terms and compliance requirements.
By creating an account, accessing the platform, or using Tuppence services, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional terms that apply to your user type or use of specific services.
If you do not agree, you must not use Tuppence.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you use the service.
- You must have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated.
- You must not impersonate another person or entity or use the platform for misleading or unlawful purposes.
- We may refuse access, require verification, or restrict use where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, sanctions screening, legal compliance, or platform integrity.
You agree to use Tuppence only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
You must not:
- use Tuppence for fraud, deception, unlawful fundraising, sanctioned activity, money laundering, terrorist financing, or other prohibited activity;
- upload or share false, misleading, infringing, abusive, or unlawful content;
- attempt to interfere with the security, availability, or integrity of the platform;
- attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorised to access;
- use Tuppence in a manner that breaches applicable law, third-party provider requirements, or card-network rules.
You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
- Tuppence may integrate with third-party providers, including Stripe, to enable payment processing, connected account onboarding, payouts, identity verification, and related services.
- Your use of those services may also be subject to the applicable provider’s terms, policies, verification requirements, and compliance decisions.
- Tuppence does not control the independent compliance, underwriting, onboarding, or risk decisions of third-party payment providers.
- Where payments are processed through Stripe-connected flows, Tuppence does not itself hold customer funds or provide escrow.
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you may have.
You should read the Privacy Policy carefully before using Tuppence.
We may update, improve, suspend, or change parts of the platform from time to time, including for maintenance, security, legal, technical, or operational reasons.
We do not guarantee that the platform will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, although we will use reasonable care and skill in providing the service.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to Tuppence, or disable content or payment links, where reasonably necessary to:
- enforce these Terms;
- prevent fraud, abuse, security threats, or unlawful activity;
- comply with law, regulation, court order, sanctions requirements, or law-enforcement requests;
- respond to third-party payment-provider restrictions or compliance decisions;
- protect users, payers, collectors, Tuppence, or third parties.
You may stop using the platform at any time. Some information may still be retained where required for legal, security, accounting, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to that, Tuppence is not responsible for:
- the underlying purpose, legitimacy, quality, delivery, or performance of any collection, event, product, service, or obligation offered by a collector;
- independent decisions made by Stripe or other third-party providers, including onboarding, verification, payout, reserve, or account restrictions;
- indirect or consequential loss that is not reasonably foreseeable.
These terms do not affect any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.
- You agree to receive service-related communications about your account, payments, security, compliance, and platform updates.
- Marketing communications, where sent, will be handled in accordance with applicable law and your preferences.
- Important service, legal, compliance, or security notices may still be sent where necessary even if you opt out of marketing.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence applies and cannot be excluded.
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@tuppence.app or through the contact page on the Tuppence website.
